Home learning 22/02/21 Signs of Spring

This week in Forest School, we have noticed that the woods are changing.  We noticed the new snowdrops that have appeared over the week away, the green leaves of blue bells are shooting up through the mud, shiny celandines are appearing and we are looking forward to seeing the blooms appear on the daffodil stalks that are growing each week.

We have been working on creating small willow woven boundaries to protect the bluebells as they appear, so that they don’t get trodden on before they arrive.

Perhaps you have noticed green shoots appearing in your garden? Do you know what they are? Can you guess?  You could measure, photograph and draw them as they grow, or draw an amazing imagined flower which might appear in your garden!

I have attached a checklist of some things that you might find appearing in woodland and along paths in the countryside, you could take it with you on a walk and notice how many you see.

And finally, here is a little quiz– can you work out which flower matches which picture?

These are all the plants that we find in our forest School space… ( Lesser celandine-from the buttercup family, the shoots of bluebells, daffodils and snowdrops) but which is which?
